Independence Day 2007

Indian Independence Day is a big celebration throughout India – at Woodstock it is traditional to wear Indian dress, and attend a school assembly with a flag-raising ceremony. Because it is also in the middle of monsoon season, the festivities are held indoors. Afterwards, we attend a reception where all parade in their finery.

After the family gathered together again in Delhi, we returned up to the hills, back to school. Here’s a photo of the first day of school.
